So much has gone on in the last month of our wonderful life. Tax season came to a close, we spent a weekend as a family of four turning off phones and computers, while swimming and sleeping at hotel It was the perfect thing for our family. I didn't take a single picture. But yet there are so many things to post pictures about.....
Asher in the last month has a new love for jumping. This formally very timid boy is coming more and more out of his shell every day. He will talk to anyone, attempt more physical activity and has less fear.
I have Asherisms to document....like how Asher now yells, "KYLIE BARNES" when I don't answer him right away.
I have a little girl who is so FULL of spunk I daily have stories I could report. She eats spicy items we tell her will hurt and even with tears in her eyes and a napkin in her hand to wipe her tongue off with, she prevails. Prooving her parents wrong. To date she has done this with jalapeno chips, hot tamales, pickled jalapeno peppers, and crushed red pepper flakes. She doesn't enjoy it, but she is out to prove us wrong.
The outfits this girl wears and demands to wears are phenomenal. For example her obsession with Asher's shirts and pajama pants.
She wakes up with spunk almost always choosing something different to wear. Her face is usually dirty and her hair a mess. But this girl oozes with love for her brother and for life and sometimes her Mama and Dada. Her kisses are rare and usually involve a game when they are given out. But, when they freely come they are a true treasure!
Boots. Boots. Boots. This is uttered many, many times a day around here. Cora has 2 pairs she fits into, her brothers numerous pairs from cowboy boots to dickersons, and she wears them all. Easter morning we had a MASSIVE battle of epic proportions because she could not wear cowboy boots with her dress. I probably should have given in...clothes are NOT a battle I want to pick....but her white mary-jane shoes were just too perfect.
Back to boots.
We attended a birthday party for Sheila my sweet Aunt who is handicapped. Burgers and beer followed by cake and coffee at the group home she lives in. She even handed out party favors to all of her roommates.
It was a fantastic evening. My Grandma came along too....times with my her are becoming fewer and sadly soon they will end all together and she is beginning the journey of the end of life. But even at 87 she is still a beauty.
We've had trips to ranches. One for a Saturday outing and one for a birthday party. Both rank in the top 10 days of Asher's year. This boy loves anything horse, rodeo, farmer, rancher etc. He plays the part well.
One of Asher's best buds had a farm themed birthday party with horse rides, branding, stick horse races etc. It was a hit!
This particular friend happens to be our Pastor's son. Pastor Josh was heading up the stick horse game and many of the moms held their breaths and uttered words like..."I wonder how this will play out," including my dear friend and his wife! Josh and games ofter bring along a snafoo or complete chaos. Sadly I have nothing funny to report but very serious children who were out to win!
I should be blogging about the soccer team Asher joined, I have lots of action shots to prove it!
Or about the new life I had to privledge of watching be born as I played the role of doula to my dear friend. Meet Oliver. I'm in love and so is Asher.
So much to talk about and yet I have a problem.
I should be writing about new traditions that have formed like this massive Easter egg hunt with friends.
Go Get em!
Or, deep thoughts about what Easter means to me, and Easter dresses and tie's and failed family pictures yet again (full of Shadows and pathetic children)
Side Note **I have finished one month of NO pictures taken with a flash and none taken in automatic. YES!
Sassy but oh so pretty....
And finally, I should have a post about Cora entering her last month as a baby (she turns two one month from yesterday) reminiscing about her beauty, her wonderful yet spunky personality, the 100's of words she says, her utter brilliance, woes about the non-exsistent baby book for her....those are the kinds of things I should beand want to be writing about. But I have a problem.
West Wing. You have overtaken my life. You have overtaken my will to do things motherly like cleaning, and putting away laundry, and reading (I still read to the children!), and BLOGGING. Season 3 we are finishing you up.....Season 4, 5,6 7 we will conquer you and then I'll be back.
Gotta go....Jesse is awaiting me and it's a two maybe three episode kinda night.

I was wondering what you guys have been up to! Can we do dinner next week?
I miss you blogging Kylie! Is that easter outfit what Cora will wear in the wedding? She's looks so adorable! I love it!
YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!
(I can go back to work happy now that I have had my fix! :))
I think Asher needs a trampoline, and you need a blindfold. lol Cora is sooo cute, and even more so when she is dirty! Love her in those boots! (Also can't believe she is almost two already!) I like that pic of all of you. And the one you took of the cows is really great, especially not using your "auto", the lighting was great! Ok I better stop there, there is probably another West Wing on!
Thanks so much for taking the time to blog!
AHAHAHAHA!!!! I LOVE IT! West Wing is so wonderful. As of right now Josh isn't a big fan but I'm reeeaaallly hoping he'll come around.
Great post, Ky. I love the picture with Asher and Oliver. Asher's face is so precious.
