Today we ventured off to a Fairmont Hot Spring for the day. The kids, my parents and me. We loaded up the van with bags of swim gear, food, and entertainment for the car and headed off.
It was a wonderful day! After hours at the pool, we went to eat in Butte and then came home. We will all sleep soundly in our own beds tonight!
Every time we go to Farimont it brings back wonderful childhood memories. My brother Rye and I would chant, "Fairmont Hot Springs" from the time we could see the smoke stack that is near the Springs until we reached the parking lot. It was tradition and we did if for years! And still.....as we drive up to the Hot Springs there is part of me that just wants to chant!
Growing up, once a year we would go to Fairmont and meet up with my parents friends and their children. There were lots of families invited and it was so.much.fun. Turkey Sandwiches (from our hotel room) and Nachos (from the snack bar) are immediate memories for me.
I love that we continue the Fairmont tradition with our children. And even though we didn't stay the night or meet up with friends today, it was a wonderful day.
*Cora is kind of a "gear head"....all about the options of gear but not very committal in what type of gear to use!
Well, except for the time I made Asher go down the water slide with me and the entire time up to the water slides he repeated over and over, "Trust in the Lord." The scripture verse was uttered in loud, soft, desperate, and tear filled tones. But I just knew one time and he would be hooked. As we entered the slide Asher said, "I just know I'm gonna die." We slowly went down the slide and according to my parents he exited the slide with a smile but the first thing he said was, "That was HORRIBLE." He didn't go down again. And when the smile my parents saw was pointed out.....Asher informed us it was a, "mad smile."
Cora on the other hand....would have gone down all day! She had no fear of the slide or of water. She headed for the deep end with no concern. She is still innocent and she has absolute confidence that we (Mama and her grandparents) won't let anything happen to her. Asher on the other hand, thought I might kill him on the water slide. Same parents.....two completely different children.
But oh how I love them both....my heart just aches in love for them! Today was a great day. Full of laughter, fun, play, sneaking children into the hot tubs for quick warm ups despite the posted signs of "no children 5 and under," Nachos from the snack bar, video games, Matt's burger joint, conversation with my Mom while we sat up front, and rear view mirror peaks at the kids and their Papa as we drove.
Today? A successful Saturday!

Okay next time we want to be the friends you meet up with! It would be perfect to meet in the middle for some fun!
Libbie lets do it!!! That would be so much fun.
hahaha I love it! I can just hear Asher reciting "Trust in the Lord" on his way up those stairs. Oh my goodness, this makes me so happy. I remember Fairmont so well.
Oh! I just wish we could have joined you! That looks so wonderful. I have so many wonderful memories of that place too. Also, I laughed out loud when I read about Asher and the water slide. He is hilarious!
